House on a Hill

I built this house about a month ago, but haven't posted any pictures of it yet. Currently it's not up for download for two reasons; one, that I have heard horror stories about non-flat lots completely borking people's hoods, and I wouldn't want to inadvertently destroy someone's game; and two, that I moved someone into the lot before I put it in the Lots & Houses bin. So for those reasons... pictures only!

The inspiration came to me in one of those lovely creative moments where you aren't even trying to get inspired, it just hits you. I live on the west coast of Canada (around the Vancouver area) so there's lots of forests, mountains, ocean... just lots of NATURE. And it's rarely flat. And so one night it popped into my head - cabin on a hill. A hill covered with BC-esque wildlife - lots of evergreen, lots of ferns.

It was a little ambitious considering that up to this point, I'd only ever made houses on completely flat lots. But considering it was my first crack at building hillside, I love how it turned out! Even my boyfriend, to whom outdoorsy-ness and log cabins totally appeal to (but Simming does not) thought it was really cool.

So without further ado, here is House on a Hill (I couldn't think of a less horror-film sounding title, sorry...)

Take a right at the top of the stairs and there's a small set of stairs that leads you to the "back yard" (really actually on the side of the house) where there's a fire-pit, a log and stone to sit on, and a bench under some trees. The dog likes to dig holes in the ground at the bottom of the stairs, thus trapping himself there and cutting off access to Sims trying to get down... apparently Sim people and animals can't walk over dirt piles. *facepalm*.

Let's go inside!

Bathroom off the entrance hall.

Spare bedroom on main floor. Could also be an office...

Cozy living room/sitting area... just to sit and stare at the fire, sip some hot chocolate...

First go at doing a kitchen with shelving instead of upper cabinets, I like this look, especially with all the cute knick-knacks.

Upstairs now, the TV room.

Bedroom and bathroom.

Well, that's my house on a hill!! Hope you enjoyed it. :)
