Summary: Kate usually watched over own, but she decided he could use her guidance.
"I didn't feel it when it happened. One minute I was there," she gestured vaguely to the open air above his still body, "and the next minute I watched my friends try to move on without me. It's hard."
"I just wanted to stop it from happening. Stop the machines. Stop John from losing everyone around him. Stop my brother from going back in time just to die." He stopped talking and gave a snort. "Guess we're more alike than I ever thought. So what happens now?"
"You can still help. Still fight. I do it with my team. You can do it with them," she said as she gestured at the retreating backs of Sarah, John and Cameron.
"How? I can't touch a damn thing," he practically shouted as he waved his hand through the glass door.
"Practice. It took time, years in fact, but I was able to give something like subliminal suggestions to people. Get them where they needed to be when they needed to be there. I guess we're more of a guardian ghost if you want a name for it."
"So I can help them?"
"That's why you're still down here, Derek. Help them live."
