Sep 13, 2013 19:10

I got tagged by hawk-soaring:

Rule 1: Post the rules.
Rule 2: Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, then make 11 new ones.
Rule 3: Tag 11 people and link them to your post. Comment if you want some questions cause I think most I would have tagged have been tagged elsewhere...
Rule 4: Let them know you’ve tagged them.

1. What is one thing you would change about yourself if you could do it instantly (but don't want to work at)?

Like most would probably say, weight. Yes, I've lost a lot, but I still have a bit more to go to reach what I would consider my ideal weight (note, my ideal is different from the height/weight charts as I think I would look anorexic if I went by that *shudders*). I joined this 21 day program my gym is holding this month. Will finish the first week tomorrow and they are working us hard.

2. Why did you pick your current profession?

Throughout my senior year of high school, I was torn between geology and art (graphic design specifically). It was very hard mental debate as I loved both. With geology, I was interested in seismology specifically. After visiting the two schools I was interested in, receiving scholarship awards, etc., art won out. Mainly because the art department at my chosen university was awesome during my walk through and I realized with geology I would have to take physics and I didn't want to go there. So I did four years in the art department and was also two classes shy of a math minor. A few weeks before graduation, my advisor and graphic design professor announced that a business was doing interviews for a web designer. With one web design class and one flash class under my belt, I interviewed and got the job. The job that I've now had for just over 10 years. I graduated on a Saturday and started work Monday morning. Of course now my job entails a hell of a lot more than design, but I still get to do that too. :)

3. What is your favorite way to unwind?

Usually reading (or re-reading) fanfic or books. I usually read for about thirty minutes before falling asleep.

4. Who is one person who changed the way you think? (whether about current events, family, traditions...)

*ponders* I can't really single out just one person. I guess I would say my family (I mean extended family here) as a whole. We have Catholics and other Christian Religions (active and lapsed), Jews, Muslims, Atheists, Agnostics, Wiccans... Straights, Gays, Lesbians, Bis... Rednecks and city folk... Farmers, Doctors, Mechanics, Pilots, Military, Teachers, Artists, Veterinarians, Computer Geeks, Stay-at-Home Moms, Lawyers, Politicians, Writers, Musicians, Mathematicians, Scientists... White, Black, Hispanic, Arabic... Democrats, Replubicans, Liberals, Independents and who knows what other political leanings... And yet when we all gather for family events, the most heated topic is the lineage of the various bird dogs in the family or the location of some family related thing (house, water pipes, etc.) that has been lost to time but not memory. My sister had a handfasting wedding ceremony that was attended by all those religions listed above. My Muslim uncle from Pakistan even said he was trying to be a good Catholic when he announce him and my aunt were expecting their fifth child.

5. Are you more traditional or do you just go with the flow?

I'm a go with the flow kind of gal... I do like to pre-plan some things, but generally, I can take things as they come.

6. Favorite domesticated animal?

Cats, of course. :)

7. Safari or 4 star resort?

Since I wouldn't be willing to travel to Africa and mosquitos think I'm their personal buffet even with repellant on, I'll go with the 4 Star Resort.

8. Is there anything from your school days that you'd like to relive just so you could change the outcome or how you handled it?

Not too much that I can think of. Except maybe declining to room with one friend. She was not roommate material and I wasn't the only one in our group to learn that. The other two of us still commiserate over that.

9. Is there one person who has too much influence in your life?

Nope. My roomie complains because I've shocked him with what seemed like a sudden thing to him. One night I show up and say, "come check out my new car." Then when I got my first tattoo, I waited till I had it to tell anyone. :)

10.Where is your favorite place on earth?

The Lake. By that, I mean the family lake that my great-uncle built back in the 60s or so. It's a few miles from where I grew up and big enough that we have a boat for waterskiing and you can fish and swim. That family I mentioned above has three big gatherings (Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day) each year. And I'll be heading there tomorrow in fact. :)

11.Who do you resemble? (besides yourself :P)

Why, sinfulslasher according to our pictures. I think she's secretly part of that crazy family group from above. We'll have to stage a 'twin' picture in NYC in a few weeks!!!!
