Gibbs is having nightmares about the 'failures' in his life. Failure to protect Shannon and Kelly. Failure to save Kate, Jenny, even Mike. He normally wakes up alone from these nightmares, until one night when he was woken by Tony.
Gibbs jolted awake on the couch and scrubbed a calloused hand down his face. Everyone said that time healed, but to him, it was only making it worse. Much, much worse.
Every night it was like a parade through his nightmares. Shannon and Kelly, Kate, Jenny, Mike and all the countless he couldn't keep from death. But even worse was the nights when those still living graced his dreams, presenting him countless what-if scenarios of if what could have happened.
No, time wasn't making it better, it was just making it worse.
A week later...Tony jolted awake when he heard a muffled cry coming from the living room. He rolled out of the guest bed and grabbed his gun from the nightstand

Yeah... a sleepy, nightmare awoken Gibbs makes for a confused Tony. But they'll work it out in the end. And hopefully a bed, because the couch is kinda small ;)
