Jethro looked over at the younger man with the short cropped hair and could see the desolation building within him. He wanted to find some way to help the man, the same way Franks had helped him all those years ago when he'd been poached from a bad situation in Baltimore.
Franks had taken a wet behind the ears detective and turned him into a federal agent. Franks had also helped him build his trust again after having it shattered by the man that was supposed to go to the wall for him.
Now he had a young Marine whose record indicated that he was one of the best to have at your back. But this Marine had also just lost his wife and child to a senseless crime. If left alone to his own devices, Jethro knew the man would implode. He needed to give the man an outlet, a purpose.
"Gunnery Sergeant DiNozzo!" he barked out, please when the other man snapped to attention. "I heard you're planning to leave the Corp. Got plans after?"
DiNozzo kept staring straight ahead, "No, Sir."
"Follow me," Jethro said as he walked down the hall. He didn't look back, sure that the other man was following him.
When he did stop, he turned to take in DiNozzo's expression as he read the words on the door in front of them.
"HR, Sir?"
"Yup. Figured I could use a hand getting the dirtbags off the street. You up for it?"

"Hoorah, Sir!"
And Jethro smiled.
