Man I NEVER really block people on FA unless they're really bad, but I blocked like 5 people from that Miupix pricing debacle on FA. After thinking on it, I just didn't want to accidentally socialize with the people who were running around saying art isn't a 'real job' and people should be charging crap because they said so

I think artists were feeling out a market/loving the newness of things and the atmosphere of being part of some new clique. These feeling of being a "family", a "community" causes one to feel like charging less.
Of course, newness wears off, the "beer goggles" come off and they start to see that there are assholes in the group just as there have been in any other group so the idea of "they're a furry so I should treat them differently" comes to a close gradually.
An artist can only be so charitable, giving fatigue sets in after awhile, especially when one feels they aren't given much in return for their giving. Not really just in monetary compensaion, but also in content.
What I mean by that is, while Kage likes to spout about how awesome and creative and imaginative furries are, there are still furries out there who are quite frankly, not. Every fandom has those that are there for just being a part of something larger cause they don't feel they have anything going for them. Furrys, being empathetic and welcoming, have these folks especially.
Then again, that could be a good thing, people with awesome imaginations don't need pictures to spell things out for them, and thus wouldn't need artists to draw things out.
For any consumer it all really comes down to choices... you can get a drawing form that artist you really like, or you can go to a con and get drunk with your friends. It's the same price... some people want it all--- they feel that it's unfair because the rich could have it all... they'd actually be surprised how powerless the rich actually are and how they can't have it all either.
Typically those that feel being rich and being free from making important and wise decisions are those that if they won the lottery would end up worse than they started out... but that's another story.
