Almost The Day

My cousin H, 9, has written a book. It is about two boys running away from home because one of the kids' parents called the king and told him it was their son that had broken the king's window. The boys race through Asia and Africa with the help of a hyperlightningmotored bicycle - how awesome is that? Halfway through they get trapped in a pyramid, and take the motor off their bike, attach it to themselves, and shoot out and up, up into the sky! (After this they continue all over the place, including a distant planet, and the rivers of Amazonas, before flying home on a knight turned into a dragon, with a princess they rescued)

Here's my favourite part:
"De fór mye høyere nå enn i stad. De for høyere og høyere og gjennom skyer og vind, og jorda var snart bare en liten prikk langt, langt der nede! Noe har gått fryktelig gærent nå, Kim, og det var også din feil."
They flew much higher now than earlier. They went higher and higher and through clouds and wind, and soon the earth was only a tiny little speck far, far down below! 'Something has gone terribly wrong now, Kim, and this was also your fault'.

Haha, I think it's brilliant! It's no Tolkien / J. K. Rowling, obviously, but it is great. An entire little book, at the age of 9! Way to go, H!

I am editing into a computer-written book that we can print out and give it to cousin H as a christmas present. (Shh.. we've snucked into my dad's office)

book, random, christmas
