(no subject)
Okay. So I'm a little quiet thing who has never posted anything but a few reviews on other people's journals. Half of you are probably wondering who the hell I am. I'm here to read fics and I created an account so I could read f-locked posts. So yeah. My LJ has no connection with my RL.
However, right now I'm just totally floored and I need to rant. A couple of weeks ago I was bored and went trolling on FF.net *ducks head* and notice that a story called Anything for Charity by oldenuf2nobetter was posted there by someone I knew wasn't her. Pissed me off. I reported it and went left a review for oldenuf2nobetter just to let her know. A few days later both the story and the user was gone. *felt vindicated*
Yesterday I needed to read something humorous and decided I hadn't read Seamus is Seamus and You are Yourself for a while. So over to FF.net I go and... WTF! My search turns up with the story listed TWICE. Once, of course, by the original author, Ari Munami, but recently the first chapter was posted by a user called offmyrocker. I reported the abuse and left a review. I notice that a couple of other people have also done the same. Today she changes her name to CookieCutter but the story is still posted. I look at her profile and note she's got another story posted and AGAIN it is not her story but Two Lost Souls by Amalin. Drop another review and another report to Abuse. This evening I wonder if Abuse has done anything so out of curiousity I check out FF.net and not only is she still there and the stories still posted under her name, she has posted more chapters AND she's updated her summaries to indicate that they were written by someone else and credits that knowledge to another reviewer (who is now pissed that her name is dragged into the whole thing). I don't know how to contact either of these authors to give them a heads up either.
Now I am not a writer (as you can see by my rambling run-on sentences but I am a graphic specialist. Along the way I created a fairly complicated "game show" in PowerPoint for a training program. I designed the look and created hundreds upon hundreds of hyperlinks along with sound effects and animation. It was recently taken by someone else and used for their training without my permission or giving my any credit. So, yeah. This hits home for me. It pisses me off. Lots. And no one is home for me to rant to. So here I am ranting to you all.
I honestly do not understand people who do this. How can they justify stealing someone else's work? How can they live with themselves? The person who stole Anything for Charity claimed she was Christian. What happened to "thou shalt not steal"? Forget being Christian. What happened to morals?
Can you tell that I'm pissed? I should go find a beer and get pissed off in a different way because I very well might be over the top here! I just find this whole thing intolerable.
So. My first post. This is what you get. I swear I'm generally very quiet and a nice person. I swear. I am. I'll go away now and leave you all wondering where the hell did she come from and why is she on my friends list? Please don't defriend me. I promise to go back to be quiet and respectful.
