Despite all the good stuff the last few weeks (and weathering some really odd stuff), I've felt a bit off the last week or two. Now I know why.
When my
Craft Coffee subscription didn't come when I expected it (which varies sometimes) last week, I wrote them to inquire. It seemed to me that my monthly crack selections were coming later and later -- last month it was around the 25th if I recall. I wasn't complaining, I was just trying to figure out if living the hinterlands there was anything they could do to help me get a time-sensitive perishable to me faster.
Turns out, they'd somehow missed my mail-out last week. They got it out first thing Monday morning, apologizing and following up all over the place, complete with tracking number. I'm now settled in for a few moments with a Columbian microlot from ASOCEAS Cooperative (smack dab in the middle of FARC country, so it took a lot to get it to ND, heh), roasted by
Sightglass Coffee out of San Francisco (awesome roaster, they also offer subscriptions). I opted for a "double" of my usual amount, brewed with my
Clever Dripper (easy and pretty foolproof if you have the Fab Four -- great coffee, grinder, scale, and temp-controlled kettle), and sitting here next to my window overlooking the snow on my driveway, I feel like I'm cuddled up with an old friend.
I've had to "make do" -- which isn't even the right word -- with supermarket "coffee" for two weeks, after I ran out of my initial batch from January. I'd have ordered some fresh from
Stumbeanos Coffee out of Fergus Falls, MN, or from one of the lots from January, but I didn't want to overlap my new offerings from Craft. So I opted for caffeine over quality, and I didn't realize how much my own quality of experience and morning moments was suffering until I'm sipping this.
I'm all zen now. Complete with ocean waves from
Calm.com. Now that I know they ship on the third Monday of every month, I can make plans for filling the gap. 'Cause it makes that much of a difference to my quality of life.
I don't even mind going in to work OT today. *ooooommmmmmm*
