Howdy. I've been quite busy lately.
Last weekend I went over to Hull to skate on something bigger than a pond. Obviously I'm getting better than when iIstarted again at Grimsby but there is such a long way to go. For a start, my entire centre of gravity has changed (thanks a lot enormous boobs), which makes things weird and jumping (and falling) altogether a scary prospect.
Whilst in Hull I went to see S- a former school friend and uni housemate who now has a baby. Little Serena Rose is 4 months old. It is so strange to think of people my age having babies. I know with the rate of teenage pregnancy I'm practically an OAP but when I see old school or uni friends I feel just the same - as if we're still at school or uni. Anyway Serena was serene until she got tired and cried for an hour almost solid. Scary.
Today I'm just back from a day out in York. I met Helen and John with whom I went on a teaching placement to Holland in 2007. Once again how time flies. But we totally fitted back in together as if we were still trainees and not five year veterans. As usual John had his Scotish charm on to the max, but lucky for us York didn't buy it. Did you know it is still legal to shoot a Scotsman with a bow and arrow inside the city walls of York? I assume the people of York never repealed this by-law because they're still pissed at being invaded by the Scots sometime? John managed to leave back for Perth without being shot lucky for him. We went on a cool river boat tour which gave us such historical tidbits as the one above.
I was also introduced to the epic yumminess that is Fudge Kitchen - how have I lived my 27 years without this shop? We watched the fudge being made, tried some samples and then bought some (Belgian chocolate swirl). I'm now on a sugar high. I was also introduced to the floral overload that is Cath Kidston by Helen (who loves it). I may take some time in a darkened room to recover.
Tomorrow should be equally busy. I'm going to Chester Zoo with my brother to see the new Cheetah cubs which will hopefully be epic cute. Hope the weather stays good.
Hope you're all well f-list.
holland,
