My neighbor isn't dead!
Unfortunately, she wasn't on a beach somehwere, either. She's been in the hospital.
I screwed up my courage (and grabbed my phone) and walked over and rapped on the door. The man opened the door while talking on his cellphone and asked me, "Are you Kate? Here, Linda wants to talk to you."
She went into the hospital a few weeks ago for an x-ray. The x-ray led to one surgery which led to another which led to her still being in an acute care wing and headed for rehab and staying with relatives.
So, not good news, not on vacation news, but she's alive! She thanked me for looking out for her and swore she'd tried to get her paper stopped a few times.
I'm so glad I went over there before I broke a window or something.
I celebrated by hitting the pool and drinking a fancy beer and calling the weekend a win.
