So I tried to go to work today. I did. I pulled out of my driveway. As I turned the wheel to head down the street, I hit a patch of ice and slowly, but surely slid into the embankment. Two cars stopped to make sure I was OK. One slid into the bank as well and the other lost traction and was unable to continue. Another car came around the very sharp curve and tried to drive around tractionless, started sliding and stopped.
While waiting for a tow truck to come and winch me out, a guy in his big old truck came by. He works for a towing company and ended up winching me out. Then they saved all the others and they didn't charge me anything. Said it was just being friendly. The towing company is just down the road so I'll bring him and his boss brownies.
After the uncomfortable sliding and overall terrifying-ness of it I decided that work was just not going to happen. So I called in, crawled back into bed, and slept for two hours. Now I'm doing some homework. The road looks really clear now. Basically no ice or slush. I need to go to campus and turn in some scholarships. I'm gonna eat some food and head out in an hour when the temperature is supposed to be highest.
I also skipped work last night because the slush on the roads were so bad I couldn't get out either. I hate missing work. I especially hate missing work because of snow.
