An early birthday present!

I should make some time to try out the ergonomic computer chairs at Living Edge at some point. If I like it, it'll be James' birthday present to me. =) Cat says her friend at work has the Aeron chair and loves it. Now that she's in her new place Cat wants to start going to the gym so I figured I should give her iPod back.

James: You want a chair and an iPod? Don't you think that's a bit greedy? Maybe Kyoto can get you the iPod ...

So Kyoto very kindly bought me this for my birthday. They were out of the 8gb in orange so I have them on backorder - hopefully they'll arrive before my actual birthday. Not that it really matters I guess, since James has forbidden me from playing with it before then. "But it would make Kyoto sad." Bah!

Harvey Norman was having a special so it came with a free speaker/dock thing, which will be quite useful since the sound on my computer has been a bit fuzzy ever since Mouse spilled water on it. A lot of places are having pretty good deals on iPods right now - I wonder if that means they're coming out with new colours or something soon.

Since I like to listen to music while I do cardio, Mouse has (grudgingly) offered to buy me these Sennheiser PMX80 headphones. I swear it's just a coincidence that they're all matchy-matchy with the iPod - they have pretty much unanimously great reviews online. I actually kind of wish they were all grey or black instead of orange

I made some yummy lasagne the other day. Unfortunately the top of it was a little crispy because I didn't cover it with cheese properly. The meat sauce recipe is pretty similar to my bolognaise recipe, only without the wine. Pat and Taryn introduced us to Annie's Lane wine, which I really love, especially the shiraz. James is going to Marc's bucks night on my birthday so I'm going to use it as an opportunity to eat forbidden cheese. I think I'll have goat's cheese and garlic on some crusty bread, and finish off the bottle of shiraz that we had with the lasagne. There's a fairly generous glass left, which looks like it'll be just about perfect. I'll have to hide it from James so he doesn't drink it during the week.

Next week will be a fun cooking week - I'm trying a lot of new things. There will be Portuguese chicken burgers on Monday, Middle Eastern lamb shanks on Wednesday, and homemade fried chicken and coleslaw on Friday (Saturday is listed as "Kaye's cheese binge"). I should bake something to use up the milk. I always have this problem with milk - I buy it for a special recipe, but I don't want to get the tiny milk because the larger sizes are much better value. Then I have a lot of milk that I need to use up before it expires.

Stupid James. He just looked over and was like "you don't get an early birthday present! I saw your screen! You get it on your birthday!" And then he shook his fist at me.

Hmm that reminds me. I need to buy a tiny funnel for James so he can make his gatorade drinks without spilling powder everywhere. We were pretty bad about gym this week - skipped Tuesday cos James was feeling a bit sick, and then skipped today because just as we were about to leave Cat called to ask us to help push her car cos it had broken down. We figured that was enough physical exertion for the day. =D
