shopping.

Last night, my friends and I got our (last?) paycheck for the first half of September. Since I had a problem with my previous paycheck, I received more this time to make up for the last one. It so happened that this week is the Annual Manila International Book Fair in SMX SM Mall of Asia. My friends and I have been waiting for this moment to splurge and grab the chance to buy books for at least 20% of the original price.

So today, I pulled myself off the bed, dragged my body to MOA and took the advantage of being there on the very first day. Upon arriving, I immediately grabbed a basket, and searched through the aisles. I didn't actually know which books I wanted, but as I walked around and grabbed some books, I realized that my basket was not enough to carry them all. So I switched to a cart, yes a push cart of books and continued my shopping. It was kind of hard for me to select books, 'coz I was worried that I might find them in one of the book sales in UP with a much cheaper price. So anyway, here's a list of the stuff I got from my heavenly day of book shopping.

THE LOST SYMBOL by Dan Brown My brother and I have all four of his other books, and though there's a big possibility that I might see this again in UP, I thought that P200 for a brand new novel isn't that bad of a price. :)

THE BOOK THIEF by Markus Zusak I've actually read this book before, my friend Mariel has a copy. But it's a really really good book, and I don't want to borrow her copy everytime I feel like rereading it. :)

HER FEARFUL SYMMETRY by Audrey Niffenegger This one's actually weird, 'coz the paperback edition costs as much as the hardbound one. I don't know why, but lucky for me 'coz I got the hardbound one for just as much. Hehe

THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY by Trenton Lee Stewart I was supposed to get the Percy Jackson Series, but when I saw this beside them, I got curious. It's a story of a bunch of smart kids on tasks and challenges. It got compared to Harry Potter, Lemony Snicket's and Roald Dahl's books so I figured they couldn't be so bad. There were two books in the series that I saw there, but I only bought the first one. I figured if it sucks, at least I didn't waste as much. But if it's good, maybe I'll just buy the second one on it's regular price. Good thing it's not that expensive.:)

JAPANESE for Beginners I'm gonna take my Japanese 12 & 13 classes next semester, and I realized I didn't have a Japanese-English Dictionary. I was actually looking for the Webster published one, like the one my friend Fra owns. But I stumbled upon this one, complete with listening tapes and coursebook... for only P150!:D Yay for me!

THE PENGUIN COMPLETE ENGLISH REFERENCE COLLECTIONThis for me is the most worth it thing that I bought. It's a collection of 8 books including a dictionary, thesaurus, idioms, etc. I have a brother who's in grade 5 and I figured this a very good investment. Besides the set only costs P300! Who can say no to that?:)

After splurging on books, I decided to pass by Trinoma on my way back to UP. I was contemplating on whether to buy a new pair of flats or a new sling bag. I did see first a small sling bag, exactly the way I want it but costs way too much. I then went to The Ramp Crossings in search of the bag I saw a few months back taking a chance if it was still there.

However, I saw these Anthology flats that my Mom and I love. I didn't own a pair, 'coz the price was way too much that I felt guilty to ask my parents to buy me one. But lucky me, it was on sale! So I readily tried on different colors and sizes, and called my mom. I asked her if it was okay for me to buy shoes, and she said that it's my money and that it's my choice (in a very motherly manner). So I asked the saleslady for the blue and violet pair, ready to take my pick. But then, the fickle-minded me didn't know which color I wanted, so I depended on the good saleslady on which color suits me better... and it's violet. :)

I ended my day with an American Baked Spareribs from The Old Spaghetti House and a cold glass of iced tea before coming home. My feet are tired, my neck hurts from all the looking down at the shelves and books and my money's gone, but all in all it was a good day.:)Now, which one should I read first? Hmmm..

You are my knight in shimmering armor.
