For the record, I have seen the new X-Men movie, and very much enjoyed it. But it didn't seem to deter my fannish brain from being all Steve&Bucky, all the time. Alas

Eeeeee, I love this! Your song choice is excellent. The opening sequence and the Bucky-focused section are my favorite parts, but the whole thing is just really well done.
I share your experience of previously feeling like Steve was my least favorite Avenger and now having lots of feels. Yeah, the first Cap movie wasn't as strong as many of the others in the MCU, and I personally feel like his arc in the Avengers wasn't quite as immediately intriguing as most of the other characters' arcs. However, The Winter Soldier was damn good, and now I feel myself loving Steve more in everything else too. (It also helps that I'm a lot more interested in reading Steve/Bucky or Steve/Sam fanfics than in his previous most popular slash pairing, Steve/Tony.)
Yeah, Steve's arc in Avengers is actually quite well-drawn...if you care about him already, enough to pay attention. Definitely didn't grab me the first time around. And, yeah, Steve/Tony is pretty much my ultimate anti-ship in this fandom, so it put me off the fandom as a whole for a while. (Clint/Coulson also completely baffles me, but I'll deal with it as a background pairing, while Steve/Tony is still an immediate backbutton for me.)
Love this! Such a great song choice, and I really like how you cut together the past and present moments.
The first Captain America movie didn't really do it for me either, but I LOVED the Winter Soldier, which has made me love Steve so much that I want to rewatch the first movie and appreciate it in a new light (silliness and all). One of my favourite parts of Captain America's story is the adjustment to the modern age, all the stuff that's different and the things that are somehow the same.. and your vid totally caught that for me :D

It's a lot easier to appreciate the good bits of the first Cap movie after Winter Soldier, no lie.
