the return of the TV meme
Okay, I'm going to knock out a few of the TV meme days, since I've been so lax about it.
Day 16 - Your guilty pleasure show
At the moment, True Blood. Although I don't feel particularly guilty about it. I read all the Sookie Stackhouse books over the winter, because my roommate is a fan of trashy vampire fantasy. And okay, the books are NOT GOOD. This should be emphasized. They're remarkably addictive and utterly ridiculous and 100% trash, and yet I defy you to put them down once you've started.
Unless, of course, you've seen the show first. Because True Blood, the show, somehow takes the interesting and addictive bits of the books, and then adds in things like CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT and EMOTIONAL ARCS and doesn't have Sookie obsessing over her outfits every five pages. Also, the show made me like Bill. I don't think you understand quite how much of an achievement that is, because Bill is by far my least favorite character in the books -- which is difficult when he starts off as the romantic lead.
The show is still a bit trashy, but it's also GREAT fun, and really well produced. I only started watching it on Netflix fairly recently -- I'm only midway through the first season -- but I'm pretty addicted already.
Also, Lafayette Reynolds and Tara Thornton are pretty much the greatest characters in anything ever. (Well, okay, clearly I have other favorites, but still.)
Day 17 - Favorite mini series
Band of Brothers. Hands down. There is no competition whatsoever.
Day 18 - Favorite title sequence
OH LIKE I CAN CHOOSE. Actually, yes, I can. Or at least, I can narrow it down to two:
Old school X-Files. Simple and creepy, and that is still the best damn theme for any TV show, ever. It's iconic. (And no, I don't know why the only version I could find on YouTube was kind of grainy and dubbed in German. You tell me.)
And True Blood, again. That's a fucking brilliant title sequence -- it gives the feel of the place and times and themes without actually showing a single character from the show itself.

Day 21 - Favorite ship
Day 22 - Favorite series finale
Day 23 - Most annoying character
Day 24 - Best quote
Day 25 - A show you plan on watching (old or new)

Day 29 - Current TV show obsession
