Y'know, this is why I usually stick to my OTPs. Because when you've already spent 6600 words trying to work things up to the point where two characters (read: Harry and Draco) could conceivably fall in love or at least into bed together and you're not sure how much more there is to go but it's more than a little, then clearly, these two characters ( Read more... )

ps: (since I'm already spamming, why stop now?) Now that I know you're writing this, I'm *really* looking forward to reading it. :)

Heh. I'm glad someone is. And, yeah, I have read a few H/D fics that I really liked, which is why I embarked upon this experiment in the first place. It's just, the ones I can get into are all EPICS, because it really does take quite a lot to get those two believably into bed together. And I really don't want to write an epic. But I am now determined, and I will conquer this bastard. *writes determinedly, if at a glacial pace*

You can do it! You can! Okay, you may not remember, but my very first HP fic was this H/D thing called Contingency and I'll never forget the comment you left for it, because you were all like "I hate H/D but I love this" and went on about how it was totally plausible, etc. That fic is only, like, 14000 words. Which, okay, is longer than what you've got so far, but it is certainly not the length of those big multi-chaptered fics that everyone else writes. It's a totally doable length (never mind that I've never written anything close to that long since), and you are an awesome writer, and you can't give up now!

Plus, y'know, I really want to read that fic. Hee. :)
