Safe My favorite of my own stories this year:
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves was all kinds of fun to write. I amused myself immensely. It was my first return to a humor-type fic after lots of angsty ones, and oh, it was a relief to write it.
My best story this year:
Probably
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves, again. Or possibly the Peter!fic, but there's a tiny bit of revision left for that one, so even though the writing was all done in 2005, it won't be posted until 2006.
Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
The Jewels of the Sea, but then, I never expected much feedback for it. Not many people are interested in fics about OCs, even if they ARE descended from Sam Gamgee. But I really loved the fic, and immersing myself in Tolkien's world through the eyes of my own characters, and imagining hobbit life centuries after the War of the Ring.
Most fun story:
Valentines was my kind of silly fun, albeit short.
Most sexy story:
This seemed to be the year of gen fics for me, so. Er. Hmm.
Apology is just a ficlet, but it made ME happy, anyway. ;)
Story with single sexiest moment:
Possibly
Safe, or
Apology again.
Hardest story to write:
(Im)perfect was like PULLING TEETH. And I was never quite satisfied with the result. I guess The Faculty's really not my fandom.
"Holy crap, that's wrong even for you" fic:
I killed off a major character in
Can't Run But, but not in a particularly disturbing way. I dunno.
Fic that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
The Peter!fic. Oh, man. But I suppose that shouldn't count, because it hasn't been posted yet. Er.
Safe made me look at Jean Grey in an entirely different way, so that was interesting.
Biggest disappointment:
Kaleidoscope was somewhat of a phut. It didn't work out the way I wanted it to. Not that it was terrible, or anywhere near my worst, but it should have been more than it was.
Biggest surprise:
Both
Queen of Narnia and particularly
Sixteen ways to tell the Weasley twins apart came out of nowhere, were written ridiculously quickly, and got loads of feedback. I just. *boggles*
Most telling story:
I've gotten better at keeping myself out of my fics, but I can see reflections of myself in any character I write. So, that. I guess
Queen of Narnia comes closest -- I fell into Susan's head way too easily.
What's next?
The Peter!fic. I haven't quite finished discussing the last part of it with my most gloriously patient beta, but now that the holiday insanity is dying down, it should come. And then I shall inflict it upon the world, and it will be ignored by all and sundry because it's about Peter Pettigrew, and I will feel strangely triumphant anyway. *nods firmly*
