Ultimate Fat Burn

Dude! I'm not a Sagittarius anymore!! Not that I buy into astrology or read my horoscope, but it's one of those things I just knew about myself, y'know? I was a Sagittarius. And now I'm a Scorpio, along with everyone else born in a six day span in November. And there's a 13th sign. And this is all just WEIRD! Weird.

If the sheer number of people at my Weight Watchers meetings the last few weeks is any indication, 'tis the season for "get in shape" resolutions. Perhaps 'tis the season for work-out DVD recommendations?

Anyway, I wanted to chime in with one. The Firm: Ultimate Fat Burn

For starters, the leader, Alison, is in excellent shape, but isn't creepily buff, like so many work-out DVD leaders. She also has a bit of a soft southern accent, which I find endearing. (She does have a slightly-too-ripped, slightly-too-perky back-up exerciser, but I'll forgive her that.)

The work-out itself is about 40 minutes, which is perfect for me. It's short enough to not feel daunting--just over half an hour!--but long enough to make me feel accomplished afterward. There's a variety of exercises, from dance to kick boxing (my favorite) to hand weights. There's upper body and lower body and aerobics, and I feel like my heart rate stays up throughout most of the work-out. It moves fast and the 40 minutes fly by, but not too fast that you can't get a handle on the moves. Alison is very good at warning you every time there's a move change, and reminding you just before each step.

Steve and I have done the DVD twice, and the work-out is good enough to still feel it the next day... and even a little bit the day after that, which may be more a testament to our out-of-shapeness. *g*

Anyway, it may not be the best at really intensely working out any given body part, but it's an excellent overall work-out, in my unprofessional opinion.

And speaking of WW, -1.0 this week, -34 total.

ww, omg!, exercise
