Don't let it kill you! You need to be alive next year so we can go play with the sharks and inspire yet another novel!

I'll let the prospect of sharks inspire me to carry on, I promise :)

Yay! Because I may have already told the sharks that you'll be down for a visit, and if I have to say "Sorry sharks, she worked herself to death", then they will be sad. And you don't want sad sharks, do you?

Aw! *hugs sharkies* - no, definitely not :( After these next couple of weeks, I'm going to stop being an idiot and working all weekend, every weekend. But I'm going to get this novel finished and off in a month...and still be alive for the sharkies, honest :D

Okay, because the sharks are very much looking forward to seeing you! Also the manta rays, but they like everyone and are easily pleased by anything that makes bubbles, so I can deal with them. The only thing that placates an unhappy shark is biting.

Sharks seem to have four modes - there's the generic "Swim around" mode, the "I am feeling hungry, angry, threatened, or amorous" bitey mode, "If I lie here long enough and do nothing, then I will eventually discover sleep!" mode (which is only true for certain species), and shark hypnotism (which only works if you can grab them by the face and get them pointing in the right direction).

Shark hypnotism sounds interesting. I thought you were supposed to tap them on the nose or something? Grabbing sounds trickier, especially if they're in bitey mode!!!!

No, you have to turn them upside-down. It's extremely dangerous, but it actually works. Tapping them on the nose only pisses them off.

Eeeeep! I'll remember that - but I'm mainly hoping to meet the non-bitey mood ones ;) They inspire novels more, I'm sure :D

Non-bitey mood is more normal. They only get bitey when reacting to stuff in some way, and will probably just be swimming around. Plus, most of them have classified humans as "Not fun to eat" (too large and bony), so their basic reaction to humans is "I should swim around that so I don't crash into it".
