Well I was doing some research on the net into transissues and came across a very odd and outdated theory behind transexualism where it was deemed to be a sex fueled mental disease. I found this an odd idea of it so I decided to read it and it found reference to a doctor I had heard of who aparently endorses this theory. I was suprised cause this was the doctor who's website I had been recommended to down at CAMH. It was highly recommended even to the point of suggesting that I hadn't really looked into transexualism at all if I hadn't been to this site. Now in fairness I have gottena couple good links off that site. However I decided to follow the link on this article and found a biography of this doctor. Included was why she had to resign from her position due to sexually assualting a patient and references to her work at the "notorious Clarke institute". Now this seriously caught my attention cause the Clarke is now CAMH and thats where I went to get assessed and such so naturally I was curious. What I found was that CAMH has the strictest standards anywhere for being labeled with GID and getting treatment of any sort for it. They also have a very sex heavy focus. I read another persons account of their time there and it read similar to mine. Lots of questions on masturbation and similar stuff. And in the end my thoughts were similar to this womans in that I think CAMH can be a big help if you're in a shitty situation with multiple other mental issues, or if you're uncomfortable or unsure about your identity they'll help you work through and challenge that. But if you are a relatively well adjusted person its better to do it with em. I've gotten far FAR more help from my good friends in transitioning than I ever have from them and thats perfect for me. So I guess in the end I wanna thank all of you for all your help and helping me through the hardest time in my life.
