girding my metaphorical loins to re-enter the fray

and probably my literal ones as well! Tomorrow will be my first day back at work after a very nasty bout of bronchitis, and I will have to hit the ground running. As it's a new month, tons of things are due, and I will get penalized for anything overdue, even though I was out sick, because that's how the evil overlords roll - they'd probably penalize me if I died and something was overdue!

I can tell I'm starting to get better, because I'm actually kind of looking forward to returning to work. On Thursday, I felt icky, but well enough to go to a conference on prescription drug/methamphetamine/emerging drug abuse - very interesting! It's seriously making me rethink the whole issue of methadone, which by current protocol counts as drug use - we may have to rethink that.

My lungs are better, but any exposure to allergens will still trigger a coughing fit - I just hope I don't get assigned to a lot of houses where they smoke or have lots of pets...or a dirty house (dirty in our lexicon means unsafe for human occupation, i.e., full of feces, mold, filth, roaches etc ..it goes on) for a couple of weeks. If I thought it would help, I'd ask my supervisor to keep me out of dirty homes for two weeks, but assignment is supposedly random. I'll just have to be extra careful, and remember to pack a face mask along with the gloves I always carry.

Otherwise, feeling pretty cheerful, we had our annual Elder's Retreat on Sat., and went up to Pala to shift through tailings from the Stewart Mines to get raw gemstones - mainly tourmalines and ledipolite - got a half-dozen small tourmaline crystals, as well as bunches of stones that may yield up goodies once tumbled. We spent about three hours there, not counting lunch. It was hot work, so afterwards, we stopped for ice cream, and in between did the important work of the retreat - solving the problems of the cosmos and making decisions for the future of the coven. It was really, really nice.

So, mostly healed and spiritually in a good head-space, we armor up to return to battle!
