Interesting day
Hmmm... First thing I found out at work today was that one of our programmers had given his notice. Guess that explained where Mike had been this week. Later, people start getting calls from the boss telling them that payroll checks from last week had bounced. I know of at least 4 people. They ask us to deposit our checks because it gives them another day or two and spaces payroll out, as opposed to everyone running to the bank Friday afternoon to cash them, but then those of us woh do deposit them get screwed. Awfully nice of Leigh to tell me, but there's not anything I can do about it. It's not like I have money stashed away to cover this. I just hope too many things don't bounce. Maybe, I'll get really lucky, and it won't get returned until Friday, and my taxes come in to cover it. Maybe.
So, my install, and at least one other next week, are cancelled because we can't afford for us to go. Guess it's just too bad for the customers, who paid cash for these systems in advance. They're not cheap, either. I think starting price for a single system is around $5500.
Tell me again why I live here, in this Hell Hole, at a job who can't afford to pay me? Why haven't I moved to Tampa? Anybody in the Tampa or Key West areas know of any decent IT-related jobs? Anybody? Beuller?
