Oh, damn it. I just watched that Ouran Host Club live action adaptation, since I mercifully have a break in exams and paper due dates right now, and it reminded how much I love Ouran, and that fandom is pretty much dead. =/ It also did absolutely nothing to help my little problem of shipping Kyouya/Haruhi like burning while most of the fandom is perfectly content with the canon Tamaki/Haruhi (which is cute, but just not the type of pairing that really appeals to me). Why would you go and add extra shiptease to my favorite noncanon ship, huh? How could you do that to a person, Ouran Live Action?
Ahem, as for the show itself, I really couldn't tell you if it's any good or not, but hell if it isn't entertaining to watch. It somehow manages to be even more ridiculous than the anime, which is saying something, but I'm not sure if that's good or not. Could just be a cultural dissonance thing, though, because I tried to watch some other JDrama a while back and found it too over-the-top to take seriously. Definitely fun, though, since Ouran is pretty silly anyway, and seeing the characters in live action is pretty neat. (Also, it greatly amused me to see Kyouya's notebook is now an iPad and that the Host Club arrived at Haruhi's house via stretch hummer.) I'm a little sad it was so short; there are a lot of other scenes I would have liked to see live action-ified.
Hm, I foresee a rewatch of the anime in my near future...
Speaking of the anime, I found this yesterday, and it is pretty much glorious:
