what the hell was all that shit??
okay, so let's recap. in perfect rapunzel-esqe style, a princessy girl is trapped in a tower by her father because she's a confessor (one of the last confessors) and he doesn't want anyone to get hurt by her powers just like he was hurt by her mother's powers. soon a servant gets greedy, as per usual, and tries to sell the girl to a sorcerer, getting her out of the castle by killing her father. this sorcerer plans to suck out her powers and use them, and he does this with a magic stone. he also could have done it with the shirkiah, which leads me to wonder if there's anything that can't suck out a confessor's power. it's them against the world, ain't it?
but richard and kahlan know she's there so they save her. also flynn is there and she accidentally confesses him. then there's some confusion, because for some reason flynn convinces her to leave, and kahlan and richard follow them on a wild goose chase and the girl confesses a large number of people... eventually including RICHARD.
soon zedd and cara return from finding where the stone of tears is supposedly hidden and warn kahlan off killing this girl to free richard. they think they can use the stone to suck out all her powers instead, so they steal it. but before they do, everyone decides it's a good idea to have richard and kahlan make babies while he can't be confessed by her.
ummm... WHAT?!
first of all, the obvious problem with this. it's not what any of us fans want. because richard's not thinking of kahlan, he's thinking of this girl (and she's wayyy to young for him). but the bigger issue is the fact that kahlan actually AGREED. nononononono. because in truth richard has no say in this, no say in if this is how he wants it to be, and no say in the fact that he could be becoming a father. so, i don't know, WHAT?! it just makes no sense that kahlan would agree to do this.
but they don't do it.
and they suck out her powers and flynn opens up some crypt and they find another locket, and then he's free so he goes with this girl and gets a happy ending or whatever. i'm gonna miss him actually. he was fun. (and honestly, at this point, hotter than richard.)
so they open up the locket and it does NOT contain the stone of tears, but another clue to where the stone of tears might be. GAH! and richard says "TO THE NORTH!" heroically but really ends up sounding like an idiot.
that's the problem with richard's new look. it's messing with his cuteness, and so now his character just becomes incredibly stupid and boringly heroic. i liked him better when he was young and innocent and learning things and making mistakes.
next week: zedd is young! zedd could die! who cares!
