so, today i became incredibly annoyed with my government teacher. i mean first of all, she calls it the "elecTORIal college" instead of the "elecTORal college", which, as a government teacher, you think she'd know. also, she's so incredibly fascinated with black culture, it's weird. she apparently spent hours yesterday talking to a student about what it's like to grow up black in america. it just sounds so holier than thou, like she's rich and they're commoners. like, "you had to overcome adversity? how interesting, i can't even imagine. i mean, struggle. what on earth is that? i'm white, so i can't possibly understand." and then after that, an entire class period spent listening to jhullian blather on about "istorically" black colleges. ARGH!!
but, all word mispronunciations aside, i'm starting to have issues with mrs. sneed's politics. we talked about illegal immigration and she said she was against it, not because of racial issues, but because it's a crime, like rape or murder. then arielle pointed out that it's certainly not on the same level as rape or murder, and it ISN'T. but mrs. sneed comes back by saying, "so if it's not that bad, it's not a crime?"
wow, lady. priorities. get them straight. there really are certain things you can't compare.
it's like the only time she voices her opinion is to piss me off. at the beginning of the year she said she would never state her politics, because it might influence us (yeah, because we're not all grown adults, and we're incapable of making our own decisions). but then she does. only is seems like she only does so to make fools out of smart people. she keeps her mouth totally shut when idiots are talking.
and she always says that no one's opinion is wrong. which, might be true if you look at it in a really basic, really simple sense, but here's the thing. if people base their opinions on wrong facts, doesn't it stand to reason that they're a little ignorant? just a little?
AND we aren't allowed to use words like "fair" and "freedom" because, as she always asks, "what is fair? what is freedom? you can't define them." oh, so let's strike 'em from the dictionary! no one ever uses those words anymore, they're practically meaningless! i mean, what the FUCK?!
yeah, the point being, because this rant is getting really out of control, is that i am starting to truly despise government. it's not full of idiots, although there are a few, and we're definitely a more liberal class than most. but politics? it sets me off. some people get political and it's like all their intelligence, common sense, and compassion falls right out of their asses.
it's going to be a long second semester.
