Links for the week of September 19th-October 2nd

Oct 04, 2010 08:00

You know, only two days late.

Science
Are genetically engineered fish safe? - Your biotech controversy of the week. For the record, I support the biotech industry. I also support compulsory labeling of food, because people should be fully informed about what they're putting into their systems.

A habitable exoplanet found? - This is exciting. Though there are already people going "OMG ALIENS!!!!" but, you know.

Entertainment
Psych renewed for a sixth season! - Yay!

Stephen Fry to play Mycroft in Sherlock 2 - I have to admit this confused me at first, because the last Sherlock adaptation I saw was the BBC one, so I was like, "But Mark Gatiss already plays Mycroft?" But no, they're talking about the sequel to the Guy Ritchie movie. Which I also really loved, so I'm excited about this news.

Miscellaneous
This cartoon is so me. My cat Amy is a calico, and I have used her as a prop before to lecture about genetics.
