The return of the weekly link posts! For this week, anyway.

Science
Translating brain signals into words - This is interesting. I have to admit to being really curious whether there turns out to be a universal neuro-language or not.

Oh, look. Yet another article about how vaccines don't cause autism - The sad thing is that no matter how many of these are published, the idiots are going to continue putting everyone's health at risk by not vaccinating their kids.

Study finds that antibiotic use disrupts the balance of microbes in the stomach - Like, duh. Antibiotics incredibly useful and have saved countless lives, but they are WAY overused. Which really isn't the point of the article, but maybe more people will stop and think, and realize antibiotics aren't magic bullets with no downsides that can be thrown at every problem even peripherally relevant.

Gene acts as spinal cord's master organizer - Just an interesting little article.

Entertainment
Stephen King's Dark Tower books to be adapted into movies and a TV series - I love that they're not going to try to shove all the books into just one or even three movies, but somehow the fact that Ron Howard is behind it doesn't inspire confidence. Not that I don't think Ron Howard is a good director, but...since when has he shown an interest in this kind of subject matter? I'm not an expert on his career or what all he's done, but he still seems an odd fit with this project. The whole thing looks like it'll be an interesting experiment, anyway. Time will tell whether or not I'll wish they'd chosen a different book series to try it out on.

Here's an interview with Stephen King himself talking about the project.

Crossovers
Free-Falling by jaune_chat (Fringe/Heroes | Olivia, Peter, Walter, Astrid, Luke Campbell | PG-13)
The Fringe division is looking for a microwaving boy. Luke Campbell is not a criminal mastermind. Peter Bishop is not an FBI agent. But they both need someone to listen.
