Links Roundup - 8.11.08

I'm going to try to start doing these again, only on a more regular basis. Maybe every Monday?

Science/Biotech
A virus that infects another virus - It's just a short little article but it's interesting. Also touches on the "are viruses alive?" debate.

Scientists a step closer to producing fuel from bacteria - But not that close.

Also in alternative fuel news we have this: EPA denies request to cut back on ethanol - I wish the article went into more detail, especially the part where the EPA claims cutting back on ethanol production won't lower food prices or help the environment. You can't just say that stuff and have it be true. What's the evidence?

Scientists closer to developing invisibility cloak - I just think this is kind of cool.

SF/F:
List of the Hugo Award winners, announced last Saturday.

Series creator Kevin Falls reveals the secrets of Journeyman - I really liked this show and I'm sad it's never coming back. In this article the series creator talks about some things they planned to happen had the series continued. It's on Ain't It Cool news, so just read the article and don't bother reading the idiots who commented on it.

LJ Stuff:
snapesbabe is taking nominations for SB's Prestigious Blog of the Year Awards

Fanfic Recs:
Five Times the Team Depended on Each Other for Survival by linziday (SGA, PG-13, gen) - I love five things fics, and this is a sweet story with lots and lots of teaminess.
