I swear, if I get called "ma'am" one more friggin' time someone's going to get punched in the face. New girl at Subway today would not stop calling me that. By the third time I actually almost asked her to please stop calling me "ma'am." I am 25 years old. I dress like a college student. I tend to look younger than I am. New girl at Subway looked either my age or maybe a couple years younger. She had no business calling me "ma'am."
I think that word should be stricken from everyone's vocabulary. I wish there was a polite way of telling people that I really feel kind of offended being called that because in no way am I a "ma'am." But then I would look crazy, because who gets so upset over something like that? I do, apparently, but I have to keep that particular bit of insanity to myself. And LJ, of course.
