The stereotypical starving student eats ramen by the boxful and subsists on snack foods. In reality, with several years of experience as a penny-pinching student myself as reference, students can be pretty darn innovative with the food stuff they can afford. The basic ramen can be gussied up with some choice vegetables and an egg. Milk can be combined with a multitude of ingredients to create new flavours and new dishes. And then, there are some food items that are just great on their own, perhaps only requiring some mild seasoning for personal taste.
In any case, here are several 'recipes' that I would recommend for anyone bored with their current food choices. :p
[1] Add a spoonful of Nutella into hot milk. (This is great for those who are bored of plain hot chocolate, although hot chocolate itself can be enhanced with honey or other additions.)
[2] Avocado with soy sauce. (Seriously, try this now. Best thing ever.)
....and that's it for now. These are probably the laziest 'recipes' I have other than just pouring milk on cereal. Haha.
p/s: The ingredients 'Nutella' and 'avocado' probably belies the penny-pinching student label, but I'm actually using a storebrand alternative of Nutella, and avocadoes are pretty cheap over here.
p/s 2: For truly dirt-cheap recipes, play around with pasta, tomatoes, potatoes, milk/cream, cheese, etc. The list is pretty much endless - just go for whatever is cheap in the store and go wild. Just don't forget the spices. Salt, pepper, and sugar are indispensible, and I highly recommend garlic and onions. ;)
