Junior Classic League (Latin) regionals was very amusing, even though it was very cold and the Olympics weren't so strong.
I was mostly around Demi, Marie, Chad (eventually), and another girl whom I forgot the name of -_-;, for my free time. We couldn't find anything to do for about an hour and a half because it was either too cold or no activities were in progress that interested us. Instead, we decided to go upstiars to the "forbidden"/empty section of Leon High School where it was quiet.
I'm not exaggerating when I say how perfect it felt where we were. It was around 1:30, the clouds were very gray and sun shone dimly through the windows of the naturally lit hallway. Outside the window we could only see the roof of the building and gray clouds. I can't stress the beauty of the lighting enough.
We ended up throwing a sock party, where we all took off our shoes and danced and spun around for no reason except for that the floors were slippery. Marie looked very cute jumping and spinning around in her socks for some reason. I guess it's because I couldn't imagine her doing so. We also took up a spectator sport of tossing a nickel back and forth by flipping it behind our backs at each other.
When we had to leave (and I desperately wanted to stay there), the announcer at the award ceremony stalled us because they were getting the ribbons. It was sad that some of us knew he was stalling, but he did a terrific job making us laugh, so I didn't mind.
I didn't place in the academics, but I got first place out of around fifteen people for Impromptu Art. The idea was that they give you a bunch of random crafting objects (paper, scizzors, buttons, pipe-cleaners, glitter, beads, etc.) and give you about 45 minutes to put them together into a representation of a subject. The subject this year was Appolo (I liked last years- the Underworld). I made a bobble-head mouse and sun that seemed to draw attention. That made me feel pretty good. :)
I want so badly to be back in that hallway in the school- empty except for the five of us- where the sun shone so perfectly and the room was so warm and dulled in color. A good memory, anyway.
