Job Challenges

I love directing the choir at St. John's, but our interim organist quit suddenly a couple of weeks ago, and now I am having to play for the services and try directing the choir from the piano, which is down the steps and off to the side, and we can barely see each other. Plus I don't have training to direct and play at the same time. I can barely sing and play at the same time when I'm familiar with the music. Maybe I need to learn how to play the organ? I don't think I'm coordinated enough!
I'm excited to be writing again, though, and I have been putting some of my compositions up on the Sibelius Music website.

The choir is performing a requiem mass that I wrote for us on November 2. I need more altos! One of my two altos will be out of town that day.

On an entirely different subject, I am having a ball in the kitchen with my new Indian recipe book that I got for my birthday from my parents. I love Indian food, but you can't get it around here. I did find a little Indian grocery store in Columbus where I can purchase some of the more unusual ingredients, although our Kroger has a pretty decent international section. I try to limit my trips to Columbus to once a month or so, because of the time and gas involved in going there. It IS nice to get a dose of a big city every once in a while.

The weather here this month has been incredibly beautiful. Cool evenings, warm days, low humidity, lots and lots of sunshine. Paul and I sit out on the front porch every evening before supper, enjoying a glass of red wine, the sunset, and each other's company.

Blessings abound!
