Happy New Year!

It's going to be a great year, I can just feel it. Full of new fandoms, new cosplay, everything. Hooo boy.

A few updates to start: I've collected all the Saiyuki/Kazuya Minekura artbooks thus far. Backgammon 1-3, Salty Dog 1-7. x3 It feels so good to be able to pull golden inspiration right off my shelf at home. If you're trying to do the same, I'd keep an eye out on eBay- in a genius opportunity, I scored Backgammon and Salty Dog 1-6 plus shipping for under $100.

I'm still collecting the DOGS manga, so I have vols. 2-6... I feel terribly guilty about buying 0 or 1 at a bookstore, though! I feel like I'd be taking away the beginning from someone who's never read it. I'll likely buy it online.

Speaking of buying online, I'm the proud owner of Appleseed [Kosugi Jurota, ahhh], Appleseed Ex Machina [David Matranga and Illich Guardiola, together again xD], and the newly remastered Revolutionary Girl Utena boxset. I think that's why they call it a 'set'- after it's yours, you're set for life! Eeeee~!

New stuff incoming! I've been watching Un-Go, a relatively new anime series [2011].. so far I'd recommend it. It's got a great balance of dramatic whodunit with humorous wat. A young detective runs around solving crimes and never gets the credit for doing so. His panda-hoodied, squirrelly assistant is always the key to pinning down that last bit of evidence... if it can ever sit still.

A new favorite is The Betrayal Knows My Name by Hotaru Odagiri. If you've never read her work, do yourself an incredibly attractive favor and sit down with a volume or two. Luckily UraBoku [as it's known by Japanese fans] has been published in big double volumes, so you'll be able to distract yourself for a good long time with these handsome folks and their supernatural battles.

I am finally reading xxx-Holic by CLAMP [but of course, I keep getting distracted by other anime and manga]. I have trouble reading new things when I'm being distracted by my old favorites XD;;; I am also reading the first volume of Rose of Versailles by Riyoko Ikeda [it's a shame that the first volume is all they have in my library system]. Back with more Showa 24 gals, I'm reading A Drunken Dream and Other Stories by Moto Hagio.

As far as old favorites go, I'm rereading A, A'[aka A, A Prime] by Moto Hagio. Talk about science fiction done right. So beautiful, you best keep a box of tissues handy. Not even joking. I'm also rewatching every bit of things I already own that include Kosugi Jurota [but that's another post entirely ( ^0^);;;].

Cosplay for this year's AnimeCentral currently includes bringing back Akio [Revolutionary Girl Utena] and finally wearing Leon Kennedy [Resident Evil 4]. The cosplay I really want to make is Genjo Sanzo [Gensomaden Saiyuki]. We shall see, we shall see. I want to get in shape and get as far as I can by May 2013.

Ganbatte, ore!

the betrayal knows my name, moto hagio, un-go, uraboku, kosugi jurota, hotaru odagiri, manga, anime, cosplay, clamp, saiyuki
