Okay, so I've been playing Soul Calibur 3 on
anti_phonics 's PS2. It's been fun. I'm trying to master Ivy, mainly because her voice reminds me of Integra Hellsing.
HER ENGLISH VOICE.
So, I think of it when I'm at home for Spring Break and go watch one of the SC3 cutscenes on YouTube concerning Ivy. As she's my favorite character, great voice, strong, elegant, talented, and determined, I thought it'd be fun to watch. But after I was done, I scrolled down to see the comments, as I often do with videos I like, to see what other people say. I thought they'd be talking about Ivy as a character, SC3 as a whole, strategies, favorite attacks, typical gamer stuff.
OF COURSE NOT. Half the comments were snarky put-downs of the English dub! >.> I have to say, it made me very angry. The little snobs were posting 'and THIS is why you switch it to Japanese'.
Gawd, no one has any respect for English voice acting. Doesn't even matter any more if it's good or not! The Japanese is so ridiculously exalted that any time an anime or gamer fan even HEARS an English word come out of a character's mouth, the response is, "Oh, EW, no, nonono, change it back to Japanese".
I'm so upset that people aren't open-minded.
