Inside the hospital
carter_i_am Sam tugged on her clothes, feeling extremely conspicuous. "Why can't I wear scrubs, again?"
whitedeathpod "Because they didn't have your size?" John offered.
carter_i_am "And shouldn't you look more, oh, I don't know, injured or sick or something?"
whitedeathpod "I have heat stroke," he deadpanned. "It's tearing me up on the inside."
Thinking better of going with that, he made himself slouch and even subluxated his shoulder. "Ow. Old injury. See, look, I'm really injured now."
krycek_rat "Better," Krycek agreed, looking at John critically. "Just don't forget when we're in there."
whitedeathpod "Don't worry," John said through gritted teeth. "I'm in some pain now. Acting won't be hard."
carter_i_am "All I need is five minutes," Sam reminded them.
whitedeathpod "Right." It was a bad idea to subluxate a shoulder. "Do your thing and let's blow this joint."
He had to laugh. "I've always wanted to say that in a serious situation."
krycek_rat "Congratulations," Krycek said dryly. "Now let's do this thing."
whitedeathpod "We need a distraction," John said. "Punch me in the face, Krycek. We'll scuffle, Sam goes off and does her thing but everyone's paying attention to us throwing down."
krycek_rat Krycek gave John a dubious look, then shrugged. "I'm glad Aeryn's in a different universe," he murmured, just before throwing a right hook at John's chin.
whitedeathpod "Oh shi--" John said, just before the right hook connected and sent him stumbling backwards against the hospital's wall. As soon as the commotion was made and eyes turned to them, Sam slipped off to do her thing at the computer.
John, meanwhile, pushed himself off the wall and held up his hands. "That the best you can do?" John drawled. He walked closer and, dropping his voice, said, "Hit me again."
krycek_rat Krycek rolled his eyes and threw a jab at John's nose; he could figure out to keep hitting him all on his own, thanks. "That's not even the beginning of what I can do," he said pointedly as he stepped in to throw another punch.
whitedeathpod This was going to be hard to explain to Aeryn but, nevertheless, he slammed dramatically against the hospital's wall again, grunting loudly. He kicked an IV stand, pushed a wheelchair and stumbled back to his feet.
"You've got hair like a girl!" He tried to gesture subtly in the direction Sam had gone a few minutes ago, question in his eyes.
krycek_rat Krycek followed in John's wake, giving a half shake of his head in answer as he reached out to grab John by the front of his shirt. "Let's see how many insults you'll be throwing when you're unconscious," he said viciously.
whitedeathpod "Be nice, I'm getting married soon," John said, wincing and struggling in Krycek's grasp. "Also, your mom!"
Yeah, that was the best he could do.
krycek_rat Krycek feigned outrage. "And I wasn't invited? Oh, that burns," he said, dropping one shoulder to punch John in the stomach.
whitedeathpod John doubled over, coughing and really beginning to rethink the macho 'hit me!' angle that had sounded so much better in his head.
Too late to do anything now because security was hurtling down the hall and they were either going to get arrested for fighting or arrested for something else and he didn't want to get arrested yet.
"Time to go," he muttered, nodding in the direction Sam had gone. Distraction given, it was time to go.
Meanwhile, nearby...
kypriothschoice Aly glanced at Charlie then back towards the hospital. "Next time we see someone coming out for a cigarette, let's try to keep the door open, slip in through there once they call."
kawalsky Charlie nodded. "Once we're in, we'll have to find somewhere to lay low but where we can get good visibility if we have to."
kypriothschoice She looked over the map they'd found. "Looks like there's an atrium in this main tower," she said. "That could work for us."
kawalsky "It'll do. Better than being stuck in a supply closet." Waiting sucked and he was getting antsy again. He knew better than to let it get to him now that they were here and pretty much on an operation. The only way to combat it was to distract yourself without actually distracting yourself. "You still with Lyman?"
kypriothschoice "Yeah, I am," she said, glancing at him and seeing his tactic. "You have any big adventures since you left the Island?"
kawalsky He shrugged. "Met some pirates, learned to fly, saw the end of the universe and helped solve a couple of murders in Maine."
kypriothschoice "So same old, same old?" Aly teased lightly, eyes still intent on the hospital.
kawalsky "Gotta keep myself busy somehow." Charlie wasn't watching the hospital. He was looking at the rest of the mental perimeter he'd set up upon arrival. "Heard from your mom?" Yeah, this conversation was never not going to be weird.
kypriothschoice "I've gotten a few of her letters," she said, feeling oddly fine with the conversation. Weird having one without many secrets. "She's in the Bahzir desert. You heard anything more?"
kawalsky "Something about weaving," he replied, not really understanding what Alanna had been talking about. "Haven't written back, but John and Aeryn's wedding is later this year, I think, and she'll probably be there if she can. I'll be there. You going?"
kypriothschoice Aly laughed. "In the Bazhir tribes, the women all weave. She's being taught how. I really, really would love to see her face when she's trying it." She nodded, scanning the area then glancing back at Charlie. "John mentioned an invitation. If it happens, I'd be happy to go. Be nice to see her and Faithful again." She paused. "Which you shouldn't tell her."
kawalsky "I'm learning long before you're born not to try being in the middle of you and your mom."
kypriothschoice "So you're where I got my brains," she teased.
kawalsky "And good looks. You must get your weaving skills from Alanna."
kypriothschoice "I'm telling her you said that."
kawalsky "Her now or her in the future? Because I'm okay with waiting a couple of decades to get yelled at."
kypriothschoice "Guess you'll have to wait and see now, won't you."
kawalsky "I'm not buying you that toy you want when you're five again." He nodded at the door. "I think we have our entry point."
kypriothschoice "Still have the sword," Aly remarked, her attention on the door immediately. She started to move, apparently casually. "Let's go then."
kawalsky He wasn't used to just walking up casually. Scurrying along the tree line, taking cover and using hand signals? That was more his style. "Take the lead," he instructed so he could always hide his face if they walked straight into a corridor with guards.
kypriothschoice Aly had forgotten that point. She replied with a discreet hand signal of acknowledgment and walked forward calmly, watching everything. Getting to the door, she grabbed it just before it shut and wedged it open discreetly for Charlie before going in.
kawalsky Unable to kick old habits, Charlie gave a quick look around behind him before he followed Aly inside a moment later.
kypriothschoice Still walking carefully but thankful for Trick who was keeping an eye on Charlie behind her, Aly scanned the corridor for guards or anyone looking vaguely military as she headed for the atrium they'd chosen.
kawalsky Thankfully, despite not being as casual as Aly, Charlie didn't attract any attention as they walked. Everyone was too wrapped up in themselves to notice anyone other than who they were talking to or were headed to deal with. Charlie and Aly didn't have that luxury.
