First Liz had told him
what The Trust had done to her. Then last week's
botched mission to get Camulus off the island and into SGC custody had failed.
The combination did not sit well with Kawalsky.
Frustration, anger and
opportunity had led to the decision to take on The Trust cell that had tortured Liz and deal with them because the SGC couldn't. It wasn't a one man show, though. If he'd gone in alone, he surely would have been killed.
Taking the Spartan, Tex, had been the best idea he'd had in a long time, even if she did own his soul now. Or at least one hell of a favor.
Kawalsky had left letters for
Cam and Liz and then Tex and Kawalsky had plotted,
left the island,
had a stake-out and then finally
took on The Trust and destroyed the cell. It wasn't without its repercussions. He had returned to Fandom with a piece of metal debris from the explosion sticking out of his side and a cut on his head. Tex
cleaned it up and gave him a place to sleep for a few hours before class.
He was tired and he was hurting, but he was alive. He headed back to the school after his watch alarm woke him up. He'd managed to shower carefully in the communal bathroom, not wanting to run into either Cam or Liz at this point as he wasn't ready for explanations, and changed into a pair of clothes he'd packed for the trip.
Technically, he should have gone to the clinic and had the day off. But the trip to Maryland to deal with The Trust had been his choice. He wasn't about to shirk his committments just because of consequences from that choice. He would push himself through the day even if only as some odd form of self-punishment or, at the very least, self-distraction, and then he would track down Liz and Cameron and explain himself if he could.
The thing was, he wasn't sure he could explain this at all without losing both of them.
