i guess it's time for the gigantic update. this is way, way overdue. i haven't blogged in forever, and there's so much to write about--graduation, brevard, college, etc. -_-;
however, i'm too lazy to write a long, thoughtful entry about everything. i think i'll do something different and do it by song.
"Straitjacket Feeling" - All-American Rejects
Back me down from backing up
Hold your breath now, it's stacking up
Etched with marks, but I can deal
And you're the problem and you can't feel
Try this on, straitjacket feeling
So maybe I won't be alone
Take back now my life you're stealing
Yesterday was hell
But today I'm fine without you
Run away this time without you
And all I ever thought you'd be
That face is tearing holes in me again
Trust you is just one defense
Off a list of others, you don't make sense
Beg me time and time again
To take you back now, but you can't win
Take back now my life you're stealing
Yesterday was hell
But today I'm fine without you
Run away this time without you
And all I ever thought you'd be
That face is tearing holes in me
But today I'm fine without you
Run away this time without you
And all the things you put me through
I'm holding on by letting go of you
And when that memory slips away
There'll be a better view from here
And only lonesome you remains
And just the thought of you I fear
It falls away
Yesterday was hell
But today I'm fine without you
Run away this time without you
And all I ever thought you'd be
That face is tearing holes in me
But today I'm fine without you
Run away this time without you
And all the things you put me through
I'm holding on by letting go of you
i would be lying if i said i don't still miss you. and that a part of me doesn't wish you cared.
(...is that bad?)
"Graduation (Friends Forever)" - Vitamin C
And so we talked all night about the rest of our lives
Where we're gonna be when we turn 25
I keep thinking times will never change
Keep on thinking things will always be the same
But when we leave this year we won't be coming back
No more hanging out cause we're on a different track
And if you got something that you need to say
You better say it right now cause you don't have another day
Cause we're moving on and we can't slow down
These memories are playing like a film without sound
And I keep thinking of that night in June
I didn't know much of love
But it came too soon and there was me and you
And then we got real blue
Stay at home talking on the telephone
We'd get so excited, we'd get so scared
Laughing at our selves thinking life's not fair
And this is how it feels
Chorus
As we go on, we remember
All the times we had together
And as our lives change, come whatever
We will still be, friends forever
So if we get the big jobs and we make the big money
When we look back now, will our jokes still be funny?
Will we still remember everything we learned in school?
Still be trying to break every single rule
Will little brainy Bobby be the stockbroker man?
Can Heather find a job that won't interfere with her tan?
I keep, I keep thinking that it's not goodbye
Keep on thinking it's a time to fly
And this is how it feels
Repeat Chorus
La, la, la, la; yeah, yeah, yeah
La, la, la, la, we will still be friends forever
Will we think about tomorrow like we think about now?
Can we survive it out there? Can we make it somehow?
I guess I thought that this would never end
And suddenly it's like we're women and men
Will the past be a shadow that will follow us round?
Will these memories fade when I leave this town
I keep, I keep thinking that it's not goodbye
Keep on thinking it's a time to fly
Repeat Chorus (x3)
i guess it finally hit me on thursday night that i'm not a high school student anymore. that i really had pretty much left a lot of me behind in the time between graduation and moving into uga. i'll be waiting to see who the new me will be. (the new me celebrated by finally unpacking that night. -_-)
"Move Along" - All-American Rejects
Go ahead as you waste your days with thinking
When you fall, everyone stands
Another day and you've had your fill of sinking
With the life held in your hands are shaking cold
These hands are meant to hold
Speak to me
When all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along
Like i know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along
Just to make it through
Move along
So a day when you've lost yourself completely
Could be a night when your life ends
Such a heart that will lead you to deceiving
All the pain held in your hands are shaking cold
Your hands are mine to hold
[etc.]
When everything is wrong
We move along
more or less the theme of my summer. shit happens. and we learn to move along. :D
"Chasing Cars" - Snow Patrol
We'll do it all, everything, on our own.
We don't need anything, or anyone.
If I lay here, if I just lay here
Would you lie with me, and just forget the world?
I don't quite know how to say how I feel
Those three words, are said too much, they're not enough.
If I lay here, if I just lay here
Would you lie with me, and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told, before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life.
Let's waste time chasing cars around our heads.
I need your grace to remind me, to find my own.
If I lay here, if I just lay here
Would you lie with me, and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told, before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life.
All that I am, all that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see
I don't know where, confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all.
If I lay here, if I just lay here
Would you lie with me, and just forget the world?
it's kind of already taken, but...this is more or less my song for my breakfast food/coffee.
the lyrics pretty much say it all. i don't really know how much i can add that's not in my poetry idea file already, to be posted later. because i learned a lot from him, both about myself and about life. maybe more than i wanted to.
but you know, it was still worth it. he made me feel so many different things...and there are so many songs/pieces that are him to me. elgar, rachmaninoff, schubert (finally! XD), eyes on me, etc.
and i really, really appreciated the honesty, especially after all the lies i heard this year. the truth can be a beautiful thing sometimes. a terrible, horrible, beautiful thing. but i found out i prefer it to empty promises.
three weeks into brevard i was wishing i hadn't come. it took one person to change that.
it's really too bad, isn't it.
(i miss you.)

Every time I do it makes me laugh.
How did our eyes get so red,
and what the hell is on Joey's head?
This is where I grew up,
I think the present owner fixed it up.
I never knew we ever went without,
the second floor is hard for sneaking out.
This is where I went to school,
most of the time had better things to do.
Criminal record says I broke in twice,
I must've done it half a dozen times.
Wonder if it's too late,
should I go back and try to graduate?
Life's better now than it was back then,
if I was them I wouldn't let me in.
Every memory of looking out the back door,
I have the photo album spread out on my bedroom floor.
It's hard to say it
Time to say it
Goodbye, goodbye.
Every memory of walking out the front door,
I found the photo of the friend I was looking for.
It's hard to say it
Time to say it
Goodbye, goodbye.
Remember the old arcade,
blew every dollar that we ever made.
The cops hated us hanging out
They said someone went and burned it down.
We used to listen to the radio
and sing along with every song we know.
We said someday we'd find out how it feels
to sing with more than just a steering wheel.
Kim's the first girl I kissed,
I was so nervous that I nearly missed.
She's had a couple kids since then,
I haven't seen her since God knows when.
Every memory of looking out the back door,
I have the photo album spread out on my bedroom floor.
It's hard to say it,
Time to say it,
Goodbye, goodbye.
Every memory of walking out the front door,
I found the photo of the friend I was looking for.
It's hard to say it,
Time to say it,
Goodbye, goodbye.
I miss that town, I miss the faces.
Can't care to erase, Can't care to replace it.
I miss it now, I can't believe it,
So hard to stay, too hard to leave it.
If I could relive those days
I know the one thing that would never change.
Every memory of looking out the back door,
I have the photo album spread out on my bedroom floor.
It's hard to say it,
Time to say it,
Goodbye, goodbye.
Every memory of walking out the front door,
I found the photo of the friend I was looking for.
It's hard to say it,
Time to say it,
Goodbye, goodbye.

what can i say? there are people and places i'm going to be missing quite a lot, in many different ways. i'm going to miss being a true kid and not really having any responsibilities. and i'm going to have to make a whole new set of friends now. there isn't really a whole crowd of smart asians i can just fall into. (except maybe that asian sorority -_-) i just hope the new people can live up to the old. whatever the drama this year, everyone really did mean a lot to me.
but honestly, i think i'm liking college. it was a lot better when i met my music 'people.' lol. and being on my own is a lot better than being stuck at home. -_-
so yeah. i think i'll be all right. hopefully. the food is better than brevard's, anyway. -_-;
