the promise you made to me, that you will only care for me
that you will only protect me, that you will only love me
I believed your lies, I believed it. did you really love me?

I’ll forget you so you can live better… goodbye.

Her name is Goo Hara and she is the daughter of the well-known Goo Cooperation.

She smiles and laughs just as if there are no problems in the world, but it’s only to cover what she really feels inside; loneliness is a common feeling for her, but she pretends that it doesn’t hurt. She’s supposed to be pretty, smart, and perfect (which she is) but nothing’s the same anymore.

Her smile stays in place, but the sparkle of life in her eyes are gone, only to never return.

His name is Choi Minho and he is the son of the chauffer of the Goo family.

He does not smile and stands nice and straight, eyes scanning the premises for anything suspicious. He’s glad that he’s able to do such a job, but it doesn’t seem like it’s enough (and it never will be.) The collar of his uniform itches, but he does not complain; rather, he stares, hoping for something more to come of it. Of course, it’s just wishful thinking.

He’s tall, smart, and athletic, but it’s a shame that he can’t make much use of it.

You have been assigned to protect the president’s most precious person, his daughter. Do you understand that this is a great responsibility? Do not screw this up, or else all hell will break loose. Do you understand?

Yes, I understand this very clearly, sir.

Choi Minho shakes his head furiously, a hand running through the locks of jet black hair. A sigh escapes his lips when he blinks once, twice. The television flickers colored lights, the news broadcasting to all of South Korea about how the Goo family has, once again, made a million-dollar deal.

He watches as the President steps out of the car, smiling and waving to the crowds and reporters swarming around. But in truth, all of them are not interested in him, or the companies affairs; all eyes are on her, the one and only daughter of the Goo family. Goo Hara.

She is a bright gem, has a beautiful smile, lovely eyes, a body to die for, and an education that many cannot afford. She’s the modern day princess, and she is completely unstoppable.

His eyes are glued to the screen as she also steps out of the car, one dainty foot at a time; she’s wearing a pastel pink suit with conservative heels. Minho chuckles to himself knowing that that get-up is a façade.

It is an unspoken rumor about how Hara is the party girl, which is undoubtedly true. If he had to pick a place, she’d probably be at some swanky club in Hongdae batting her eyelashes to get free drinks and what not.

He still remembers it clearly; the sensual sway of her hips and the way her hair moves gives him goose bumps. But he’d still do nothing, as his hand remains clasped in his lap, palms sweating profusely.

She’s not as outgoing and spunky as she used to… at least that was before her father’s death. Everyone was crying and sobbing at the funeral ceremony, but not her. Tears brimmed her eyes, but it looked as if it took much energy and self control to keep them from falling. She’s hurt, but she is the president’s daughter after all and one cannot show weakness to anyone no matter the time and place.

Her younger brother clings to her leg, shaking and crying and the only thing she can do is whisper calming words into his ear and hold him tight.

Goo Hara’s world has fallen apart, but even then she’s still the same.

But not anymore.

Two weeks go by and it’s as if she is a new person. The girl who used to party and go clubbing was no longer there, only to be replaced with a refine young lady set to enter university.

Her smiles never reach her eyes ever since that day.

She’s completely broken as her bleeding palms hold the broken shards of her old self, fingers twitching and arms shaking. It’s a miracle that she’s still here, but hollow; a shell of the person she once was.

Minho can’t do anything but watch from afar, his gaze never meeting hers.

Like star-crossed lovers… but she never loved him in the first place.

Another plastic smile graces her lips, and there’s a sharp pain in his chest. The tears that were supposed to be shed long ago never come as he watches her live just like a living doll.

She’s the perfect doll that everyone hoped her to be (it’s a shame that she’s scarred, hurt, and broken beyond repair.)

a/n: uh, if you haven't noticed, this is slightly based on City Hunter (LEE MINHO!!!!!!!) so yeah... I was planning for this to be longer, but after 2 months of working on this it's really disappointing that it ended up like this. So sorry! it's finally August.... whoa. forgive me for any mistakes! I haven't been in the mood to read it over and fix any errors....
