Randy and Chad came back to finish up the dry walling of the room. He built a recessed arch over my fireplace and plans to add in a mantle as well. Im really pleased. We also have our two recessed lights in the media niche now, but I think the bulbs in there arent quite right.
However, he ran out of boards of dry wall, so that will have to be finished Monday. Simon, the guy doing the texturing of the wall, will be able to work on other areas while Randy finishes that. Once Simon is done, its onto painting, and the room will be nearly done. After that, we just need the rug placed and the new credenza, and we can move the couches back in and have the room back to some extent. Hope that doesnt take to long.
We decided to go out while Randy was working, so we went around various places looking at art and furnishings and grabbed lunch at Olive Garden. Once of the places we stopped was Michaels. They had a huge sign that they are actively hiring for their new store in Castle Rock. So I applied. I might get a call as early as Monday. Work starts July 22, which would be in about a week. And since they are actively hiring, theres a good chance Id get something. Its only part time, but I think I can get a stocking job instead of pure cashiering, which would mean more movement around the store, which is what I want. So, heres hoping.
Last night, Adrian and I decided our bedroom was in desperate need of a chair and some furniture rearrangement, so we executed a plan. We moved my broken hope chest out of the room, and then a high chest of drawers into the closet. We then moved the dresser mirror out of the room and moved the dresser opposite the bed. We moved the bed down two feet and put the big green chair from the living room set in front of the fireplace. We then went to move the TV and satellite box onto the dresser, but we ran into a problem.
My TV in the room is an old Phillips Magnavox 19" non HD TV manufactured in 1998, thats how old it is. It wouldnt sit on the dresser properly cause its so wide. So I asked Adrian if we could go get a replacement TV. He said if we could find a deal at Best Buy, we could get it. So we head over there. Turns out they had a 32" Sharp on sale for $699 (normally $799) through yesterday. They had one left, so we grabbed. We came home and hooked it up, and its extremely sweet. The amazing thing is it has HDMI hook up and stuff, so we could hook up our DVD players or the consoles up here if we so desired. So I think remodeling the bedroom and bathroom is on hold for now, although Id like to repaint, recarpet/refloor, and get some art in here. So my priority this week is to totally clean up and organize the bedroom, bathroom, and closet.
While we were out, Dad called. He still was leaving a message when we got home, so I quickly grabbed the phone. He caught me up on whats been going on with John's job search and Andrew's residency. He also went over a few things about Mom with me. Hes finally getting her headstone finalized. Its going to have some little shamrocks in the upper corners, the family name, her name and Dad's, along with dates, and a saying at the bottom. It looks pretty nice, and Im glad she will finally have a marker.
So they say its always good to look to the future, and Adrian and I have started figuring out some things about the house. We want to first finish the living room into a reading library for Adrian as well as finish up his office (get a chair and table in there, repaint, and recarpet). We then want to do a demo of the kitchen, including (hopefully) knocking down some of a wall that breaks up the space between the kitchen and the dining room. I want those two rooms to flow, and I think we will convert the dining room into a sort of coffee bar/conversation space as Adrian likes our coffee sessions. After that, its onto the basement. The bedroom, as mentioned, will get remodeled at some point, but its lower priority given the improvements we have made.
And then theres the other major decision ... we have decided that we are going to try and have a baby. We want one -- and probably will have so much trouble that one will be enough of a trial to not attempt it again -- and I may have to adopt in the end, but I think its the right thing. Its on hold pretty much until I lose more weight, but the decision has been made, and Im pleased.
I realize my entries have grown boring. But these are exciting times for me. Im happier than Ive been since ... maybe ever. Things are falling into place. We have a house we like in a great location that is starting to come together in a way we want it (for the first time in our lives), Adrian has his work, I might have work soon, we have plans for a baby ... its just falling into place, and in a good way. So Im really pleased.
