the best concert ever!

last night was the dresden dolls concert and it seriously was the best concert i have ever been too. got there a couple hours early in order to ensure a good spot. i admit i dressed a little for the concert (short black dress with white slip showing, hott high healed mary janes, my sister did my hair all spikey cute, and i made some super earrings). anyhow, i scored a SWEET spot. i was all the way at the fence to the right (ugh i hate the middle). being on the right turned out to be the best spot because it was next to the exit and they ended up opening the door and turning on the fan so it was nice and cool. not only that i had a perfect view of everything.

so the first band was fun. international noise conspiracy was definately one of the best opening bands i have seen so far. the lead singer was a cross between mick jagger and iggy pop, he was all over the place. the next band was and you will know us by the trail of the dead, they were nothing special. they were too loud and quite contrived. they had to do the typical destroy the stage and all the expensive equipment in the end. amanda came out just off stage for the first bit of their set, she seems to really dig them. it was cool to see her getting into the band, and i wouldn't have seen her if i had a different spot!

and finally what i had been waiting for! the dresden dolls opened with good day, my current favorite song and did several songs from their album. they also mixed in some from their live album (which i don't own :( yet). they did missed me, half jack, the jeep song, coin-operated boy (which she inserted "i can even fuck him in the ass" instead of "i can even take him in the bath."), truce, and finally girl anachronism. i think i am forgetting 1 or 2 from the album but regardless they were AMAZING. brian is a fucking awesome drummer. not only can bang on those things he is quite theatrical, it was hard to keep my eyes off of him, but damn amanda has her own super charm on stage and then i'd be glued to her.

the most annoying thing about the concert was that, of course, many members of the audience made it a sing along. i didn't pay to hear fans belting out the songs off key, i paid to hear amanda and brian do their thing. there was an especially annoying girl right next to me who i wanted to slap and tell her to shut the fuck up. before the concert she was saying "there are too many posers here." hmmm...i thought to myself, looking at her poserness, and realizing everybody is a poser in someway. she kept glaring at me and she was singing loudly and awfully. groan. i didn't let her spoil it too much though.

the encore was also one of the best that i have ever seen. most bands come out for one song leaving the audience only a little satisfied. they did 3 songs(!!!) for their encore and the audience was totally satisfied. besides being sore from standing in heals for 5-6 hours i had a GREAT time. nearly everything was perfect and i couldn't have asked for more. i'm definately going to catch the dresden dolls the next time they are in the valley.
