Addictions counseling is going to be a lot of fun. Challenging--500 pages of reading in 7 days, and covering all that material in 4 days from 8-5. But the drugs covered are an interest of mine, and we're going over more than the psychology of addiction; we're looking into family dynamics and the defense of addictive behaviors, and the codependency and personality issues that accompany abuse. We're required to attend two NA, AA, OA or Alanon meetings, and either design our own intervention model for implementation, or do a diagnosis and treatment planning as if we were submitting it to a judge. Fun-ness.
Addictions have interested me for a while--drug, alcohol, food, sex. They're fascinating. I can't articulate any better right now. I have Eating Disorders at 5-8. Our first assignment is a collage! Not very many grades in the class, it's more knowledge acquisition. ROCK.
