Homework? ...hey, where'dya go?
It feels strange not having an immense overload of AP homework. I was totally gearing up for it. But now...nothing. Well, I have a stray Honors Chemistry and Spanish IV assignment here and there. But AP Gov and Lit? Gov we've been taking notes ever since that one vocab quiz (that I totally bombed) and Lit, we're still doing those "students teaching class for 40 minutes about their act in the Merchant of Venice." My group, by the way, has Act IV, the court scene where the wives disguised as lawyers save the day and take the rings from their husbands who had just promised to never lose, give, sell, etc. those same rings.
Yeah, so as a project, we the students have to teach the whole class for 40 minutes about our act. Need a warm-up, discussion, and one/two activities. I came up with our activity. It was so random how I thought of it too! I, out of the blue, proposed we "marry off" our class. Yup, that's right. We're gonna simulate a mass marriage with our entire class. We started getting into details. We're gonna put ID cards on everyone that is gonna tell them who they are. It'll be on their backs so that they can't read them, but others can. Then, everyone will find someone to marry based on the info on their backs. After everyone is married and given their vows, we're gonna tell each couple a fact that has the potential to ruin their marriage, forcing a forgive or forget scenario. Mercy? Divorce? I love it. Then, they'll have a better idea of the prejudice they displayed based on their partner (if they purposefully searched for someone rich...that's bad), or if they purposefully searched for specific things, or lack thereof. Fun stuff. Other themes in the act will be discussed as well. But, that's the main one me and my group will be tackling.
It was so cool! I got discriminated against the other day! (You're so confused right now...hah!) The group that went the other day, picked 4 students out of the class, (gave us these big red dots...about the size of a plate,) and made us sit in the back of the class. Then, they "discriminated" against us and told the class to ignore us. Oh, and they gave us more work too. We were representing the Jews in the book and their unfair lifestyle. Quite interesting. Except, us "jews" were having the time of our lives back there. (We drew on the red dots...wrote notes to each other in spanish, joked around, called each other Jews...fun stuff!) But, we did understand the purpose of the activity...we just had fun participating in it.
Hmmm...I forgot to request to have my transcripts sent today, AGAIN! I hate myself. At this rate, I'll never get into a college. I also forgot to grab my letter of recommendation from my advisor and remind my counselor/teacher that I need those college forms filled out by Wednesday! Ugh...I hate myself. I truly do.
Time to distract myself by checking my livejournal and reading some fics. Till another day of interesting events!
