We're getting a centerfielder named Coco Crisp? What's next, Mini Wheat?

I suppose the best update I can give is a poem I threw together one evening. Do not expect brilliance, or even perfect meter at times, but it's the first time I've actually been able to write a poem for quite a while which probably means something but I'm not going to try to figure out what that is.

Had I the ability to post pictures to this journal, I would love to include one of my engagement ring that Tim gave me during his recent visit. It's got a sapphire with two tiny diamonds on either side of it set in a white gold band. Nice and sparkly, as engagement rings should be. Tim says I'm just a magpie.

The prospect of the event of my wedding (to separate it from the concept of actually being married to Tim) has now moved up in relation to the Coldplay concert. Coldplay still tops it, but I'm getting more excited about seeing people and am coming more to terms with being half the focus of everyone's attention for an entire afternoon.

I'm having far too much fun with the "I'm the bride, so that's the way it's going to be" phrase, though.:) Hmm, I wonder if inserting "newlywed" can provide the same effect?

I found a way to get to A,
But realized another way
I had to take, to get to A
Another time, if not today.

But in taking B it led to C.
I soon saw A was blocked by G
And at the end I’d gone through Z
Before I saw the idiocy
Of the route I’d just gone through -
The complicated maze I took to
Find the alleys and paths and ways
To get to such a simple A.

But finding A without first Q
Would have been unwise to do
For Q and R gave way to S,
Which, out of order, creates a mess
Impossible to fix unless
I next took more time to impress
The U’s and V’s along the way
Who would not have been pleased today
Had they known I’d skipped D-N -
I’d have to start the journey again.

“But,” I asked myself at E,
“Why do I need B-Z?
I can find another way,
More direct, to get to A.

Alas, the doors to A were locked
When up their marble steps I walked
Without first seeing H or L.
I stepped aside and yelled
Up to the third-floor window that
Another had left open, I sat
Atop the set of marble stairs
And waited for an answer there.
“Surely, there’s another way,”
I said aloud, “to get to A
Without first even seeing B -
Someone here must have the key.”

But if they did, it was not I
Who was to know the reason why
Not everyone who wanted A
Had to follow I and J.

I slowly stood up, understanding
There isn’t any sense in thinking
That I could be any more
Than all who traveled here before.

There isn’t any other way
That I could ever get to A
Except to follow crowds ahead
And take the winding paths to zed.
