A portrait, practice

The typical first-day biology work-sheet included the question, "What are your hobbies"? There was nothing I could write. There is nothing unique about my extracurricular activities and interests. I read sometimes. I write sometimes. I listen to French Canadian radio. I listen to an average of 67 songs per day. I play around on the piano, but ( Read more... )

Okay, I've managed to recover from my shock. Why didn't you put FARMVILLE? (can't even think the word anymore without hearing Toby Turner's voice)

You're right, that deserved an edit. Unless you meant, 'Why didn't you put FARMVILLE on your first day assignment', in which case the answer is that I don't want to ever have to run into the red comment 'Perhaps you should spend more time studying and less time tending your crops' on the top of a homework assignment.

Oh snap. Yeah, that would be pretty mortifying.

Of course you realize by now that aliens have landed in Michigan and we have burrowed into the mind of your friend Nicole. We will use her to carry out all of our evil plans, and also to infiltrate the friends pages of about 20 people on Livejournal. This is what we've traveled all this way for.

Well, I'll miss her. But if it means this blog will be updated more frequently than once a year, WELCOME ALIEN OVERLORDS.

We can promise you twice a year, at least.

*SIGH*

Also also....67 songs a day????? Come ON. Are there even enough hours in the day to get that many songs in? I don't think I even have that many songs on my iPod total (okay, tiny exagerration). You're a MACHINE.

And here I thought I'd lowered your expectations so much that you'd take anything but nothing. :)

Actually, it's probably more like 150-200 songs a day (depending on how many podcasts and audiobooks I listen to), but the daily number is calculated by dividing the number of days I've had my account from the overall total of songs I've listened to. There are about 9 hours a day to get songs in, because my job would be unbearable without my headphones.

How many songs would you say you listen to of a day?

You thought correctly. I had just briefly gotten my hopes up is all.

In the day-to-day, zero songs (hard to listen to music and doctors dictating too). Back when I worked in the warehouse I was like you -- couldn't possibly get through the day without headphones on constantly. Weekends at the hospital I listen to Dan on the drive in Friday night, then some random shuffling while I work, which amounts to maybe 6-7 songs? I know, I suck. But remember I've got only a 2 gig Nano here so I'm plenty sick of what's on there. Maybe if I had an 80 gig jobbie where I could stick my whole library on it would be a different story. Or if I could stream Pandora on my phone without draining the battery in an hour.

Watch, you'll be so inundated with posts from me this year that you'll beg me to stop.

Well I figured you couldn't listen to much music during work, but I thought you might've needed it to get through gym time. Mindless exercise - basically the same as working at a warehouse (or a shop called Diamond Pistons), right? Or maybe you've been too sick to go to the gym. Or maybe you've thought, why bother, simply not eating is doing the job for me, in which case yay anorexia.

I've got the iPod shuffle (because of the high likeliness of me dropping my phone if it's anywhere near me when I'm standing on cement) and I have to change the songs every DAY to keep from getting bored of it.

Yeah? Let's see what you got.

Sure, when I went to the gym my iPod was more essential than my water bottle. The gym. Haha. Yeeeaaah. I've sort of given up on it. I'm still sick right now, my membership expires next month, and honestly $200 to renew it would be better off going towards my medical bills. Plus I kinda love the freedom of finishing work and being able to relax without feeling guilty about not going.

Also that anorexia thing you said.

Also also if you continue in your current trend, you can expect every post to receive a truckload of comments to the effect of "Whoa! You there! You've updated at last!" and completely ignoring the topic of your update. That won't be much fun, will it?

This could've been solved by never updating again!

You've got a point. Ive gotten also a dozen comments NOT on my journal, saying 'hey I noticed you posted on your journal WTF'.

Aww, that's sleazy. Like someone not commenting on your journal, then the next time you comment on theirs THAT'S where they say "Oh hey, I read what you wrote the other day. " What's up with that? Good way to increase number of comments received vs. left (but who's keeping track?)
