Wednesday, June 20th:
I met
sinister_dr_x at his place to watch a movie. Something was already playing when I arrived, but I couldn't tell whether he'd started without me or whether it was something else. In the part I saw, the main character (
Fred MacMurray) was asking someone for a favor; he needed the blood of a black cat in order to hide something.
I flipped through a D&D book
beltramgregor had been talking about earlier, but it only made me confused. Strange gods filled its pages, and much of the book was spent differentiating between races of frog demons.
I later realized it was actually a glossy promotional booklet for Halo 3, which would apparently introduce a new monitor as well as a character called "Hell." Black blobsprobably their silhouettesposed vaguely across lurid backgrounds.
The next day, I rode my bike to work. I wasn't worried about being late, but the weather was cold and drizzly, and I expected to be uncomfortable all day. I realized I'd decided to go east instead of heading to work, and had already reached the suburbs. I aimed for a school carnival ahead, just below the hill, where students and visitors in insulated vests wandered between second-rate amusements. Just before the forest gave way to athletic fields,
sinister_dr_x jumped out at me from behind a tree and shouted, "Ha!"
