Either I'm not an atheist, or else the atheists I've met so far have not been real. It seems a bit superfluous and needless to keep stressing the fact that gods are unreal, all sort of afterlife is unreal and, anyway, people keep to religions only out of stupidity and fear. Oh, and leer at the smallest suspicion of religious feeling. They sound exactly like those low-grade christians who simply have to keep manifesting their religion and talking about all other beliefs being 'wrong' and 'unnatural'.
I mean - great, you think there's no gods or, on the contrary, you believe there is a God or many gods. Now please get on with your life and stop dragging your beliefs into every discussion you happen across. Otherwise you'd come across like some too much in need of self-assertion.
I think I'm more of an agnostic. Possibly what I believe to be the order of the things is to a religious person a God, or gods. And I sympathise with buddhism too much, and according to that religion, whatever you believe in is real for you.
Buddhism is about freedom - knowing what it is and finding it. I think that the same applies to all other belief systems - even atheism. And so wasting time proving that your views on life are the only true way seems either irritating or just stupid.
