I read somewhere a long time ago that the idea of slash is to bring together two equal(ly strong) characters instead of the stereotypical weak female and strong male.
*sigh* It's a nice theory, and it doesn't work. Every time I write a het couple, the woman is not just stronger, she's the only strong character in the whole story. And I'm interested in writing about weak characters, they've got more to offer. Not only that, the only really powerful character puts the whole thing out of balance.
You see, I'm writing this drabble about Teatime, and it has been going quite well while it was purely slash. But when I brought Susan in, Teatime rather unexpectedly turned into this teenaged fan: "Oh, I've finally seen her! She really does exist! It's the happiest day of my life."
This is all rather depressing... xD
