Prompt: Hell is empty and all the devils are here

Shepard punched the back of the couch. She pulled her hand back and shook it; the padding wasn't nearly as thick as she had thought. She poured another shot of whiskey and drank it in one gulp.
"For the pain," she told herself. It was for the pain alright, but not the pain in her hand.
First she found out that she had been dead for two years and brought back by an organization she loathed. Then when she went to the Council, they all but called her crazy. Even Anderson, who at least recognized the Reaper threat, refused to give her any real help.
But Kaidan, that was lowest blow. She trusted him, loved him, and he turned his back on her too. He called her a traitor. She was doing her best to put the pieces of her life back together after the rest of galaxy moved on without her. She was fighting to save human colonies from the Collectors. Yet, she was a traitor.
Shepard poured another shot. She didn't ask for any of this. "Hell is empty," she thought, "and all the devils are here."
