Island

By any chance would this be the first (if unofficial) review of Island?

The paragraph is here:
Meeting I was lovely, and it would have probably been more life enhancing to carry on chatting to her than watching the film. We certainly both agreed that watching the film was definitely not fun: it was bleak with a tendency to melodrama. The scenery on Mull was stunning and I may have to steal the idea of drawing into the margins of books for something, but the whole thing could have done with more energy, I felt. Shame, because Colin Morgan certainly could have brought that to the piece, and maybe a bit more humour, to the piece if allowed - I felt he did try on a couple of occasions to no avail. A much lighter touch, I felt would have been nice. But then, I am definitely more of a fan of Danny Boyle than Shane Meadows anyway, since I believe that unless people are gently reminded of those less fortunate then them, they will close their minds and hearts in an instant fear reaction: something wants to make them feel bad and they start defending. That is why humour is such a brilliant ally in raising awareness and sympathy. I bet the sequence of the little boy jumping into raw sewage in Slumdog Millionaire has raised more awareness and will to change that thousands of images of small Indian children dying in the streets of New Delhi. I could go on, but....
